How does Gener8 work (and how do they make money)?

I searched this exact question (how does gener8 make money) into Google, and after more than 20 minutes of looking, I had no more information than when I started. In fact, there really isn’t much information on this type of thing anywhere on the internet (which seems a bit weird…).

Anyway, after using Gener8 for over a year, I do have a decent idea of how it works. Not All my information may be 100% correct, but it should be about right. Here’s a quick answer to this question:

Gener8 makes money by advertising, surveys for market research, affiliate and a couple of other techniques. Then Gener8 take a 20% cut of what their users earn.

But if you don’t even know what Gener8 is, you’re in real luck. It is a tool that helps around 1,000,000 people worldwide to make money passively and for free. I have more information here.

But let’s answer the question you came for. How does Gener8 make money for you?

How is the money actually made?

There are a lot of different ways that Gener8 generates (pun intended) income for you.

Most of this comes from your data, but there are a few other ways that Gener8 can make money, sich as advertising.

Please note that since Gener8 or affiliated companies have not yet released any official information that goes into detail on the subject this is mostly speculation, from my own experience.

So here are some of the ways that Gener8 could be (and most likely are) making money:

  1. Affiliate income. When you buy a deal on Gener8, or get it for free, you either get a special link or discount code that tells the seller that you came from Gener8. In return for getting the seller some customers, Gener8 receives a small commission on whatever you buy. An average commission is something between 5 and 30 percent, depending on what the product is.
  2. Advertising. Currently, this is the smallest way that Gener8 makes money, as they don’t offer it (it’s now been in beta testing for literally years). But once they do, this could quite easily become the largest and most important. So if you are reading this in a few years’ time, there’s a good chance that this is one of them. The way this works is that Gener8 changes any of the ads you see online to their own ads, which you earn 80% of the revenue from.
  3. Market research. Gener8 has collected a huge amount of anonymous data from its users, so this can be very useful for companies to do market research, and will pay a good price for it.
  4. Targeted advertising. Do not confuse this with advertising, as this is not it. Targeted advertising is where Gener8 offers data to companies to more effectively make ads that convert people into customers.
  5. Other. This includes possible other categories, such as credit and loan evaluation, crime analysis, etc. which I have no information about, and so cannot put down.

Your data is probably worth the most out of all of these, with one person’s data being worth an estimated £200-300 per year. Data is a $300,000,000,000-a-year business and employs more than 3 million people in the U.S.A. alone.

But if you’re getting all the profits from this, how does Gener8 make money? Is it a scam?

What is Gener8’s business model?

This one’s extremely simple, and something you might actually already know. Gener8 take a 20% cut of whatever you earn. That’s pretty much it, but you need to factor in other forms of income such as investments, the affiliate we earned earlier and possibly something else. But the main one is the 20% cut.

How much money does this make (for both you and Gener8)?

I’ll break this down quickly, because I have a longer article explaining how much Gener8 can earn. Here’s the main outline:

  1. You can probably expect to make about 30-150 points per month, depending on how much you are using it. Gener8 advertise that you can make 300 points every month, but that’s not accurate in my experience (at all).
  2. A point is worth around 10p, but this varies a lot depending on what you’re buying. 10p is on the high end, while buying items in auctions usually skyrockets the price – so it becomes worth around a penny. However, if Gener8 are going to add a PayPal option – which their suggestions page says they’re working on – then it would probably be 10 points = £1.
  3. So the total ends up being around £3-15 per month. Not very substantial, but it is worth setting it up – after all, that’s up to £15 that you could have if you set it up for essentially free. Gener8 advertises £10-25 per month, so they aren’t too far off.
  4. All these numbers, particularly in 2 depend a lot, mainly on if you are using their app or only their extension. The app allows you to essentially double or even triple your earnings if you are willing to upload data to Gener8.

And here it is for Gener8:

  1. Gener8 are worth £30,500,000 at the time of writing, and with about a million users, this adds up to about £30 per user. However, a very large amount of this figure comes from investments, so it could be a lot less than this. My best guess would be around £5-10 per user, but this may be a very long way off.
  2. That’s pretty much it.

What are the drawbacks to this?

There’s only one main drawback to using Gener8 to make money online – and that’s privacy. However, this is quite easily negated by the simple fact that, well – you’re already giving away your data for free. So you may as well make money for it, right?

Well, yes. But Gener8 also comes with an option called “Privacy Mode”, which is where it blocks all trackers across the internet. So if you want, you can quite easily switch, in all of two seconds, into a mode where your data is protected.

But here’s the plot twist: Rewards mode still blocks trackers! The logic behind this is – well, the trackers don’t actually make anybody any money apart from those who set them! So neither you nor Gener8 will make money from it. So what’s the problem with just getting rid of them, right?

So, yeah, no matter what you do, your privacy will still be better protected than if you didn’t use Gener8. Other than that, there really isn’t another downside, apart from your time. This isn’t a big one for most people, though, so it doesn’t matter too much.
