This is going to be a short post. Here’s the quick answer, and then I’ll follow it up with a little more information for those of you who, like me, want all the knowledge before doing anything. Here’s the short answer:
Yes, Gener8 is legitimate. It is a good way of making a little extra money on the side. However, keep in mind that Gener8 points cannot be exchanged outside of Gener8 – plus the fact that it is difficult to make more than around £10 a month.
I think that sums it up pretty nicely. But you’ve probably got loads more question – so I’ll answer them now (don’t go anywhere!). But first – what is Gener8?
What is Gener8?
Gener8 is a tool that is used to make money online for free. It sounds exactly like a scam, which is why you’re here – but I can promise you that it really works. I have used it for well over a year and a half, and have had no problems with it.
The way it works is both really simple and really complicated at the same time. The concept is so simple, that I can sum it up in two short sentences:
- You generate data and watch ads when you go online, which makes companies money.
- Gener8 takes this, and redirects the flow of money back to you.
Gener8 takes a 20% cut, which is totally worth it – especially when you factor in that you cannot get this anywhere else.
But is it “really” free? Let’s find out!
Is it really free?
By “really” free, I mean that it comes with no cost to the user, including both their money, time, data, etc. Basically, if there is any downside to using it, then it is not free. Let’s work through it.
- Money. Gener8 costs no money to its users to download, use and redeem their points. At no point will you be asked for card details. Therefore, Gener8 has no monetary cost to the users. So it is monetarily free! In fact, if you take into account that it actually gives you money – it’s much better than free!
- Time. Gener8 does take about 10 minutes to download and install their browser, but that’s a little bit of an anomaly. Their app can be downloaded like any other app on the App Store or Google Play Store. Their Chrome extension takes about ten seconds to install, but you will need to log in or create an account. Other than that, it simply runs in the background and does not need any other maintenance. So it’s not “free” if you count your time, but it shouldn’t be a very high cost at all.
- Data. This is the most surprising one, as most people think that it would surely cost a lot of data. After all, how else is it making money? Well, it depends a bit on factors such as if you’re using features such as the Google data upload, but in general it actually protects your data (hear me out)! This is because it blocks trackers and stops the websites you visit from stealing your data. Gener8 is then the only thing (apart from your browser, such as Google) that has your data – which is a lot safer than any sketchy websites. So this is better than without it – another win!
So out of our quick analysis, Gener8 is better than free – unless your time is extremely valuable. But you might like to know how much you can actually make from this – so here we go!
But how much can I make?
I’ve actually already written a longer, more detailed article on this – so this is just an overview:
- Gener8 claims that its users can make upwards of 150 points per month, up to about 250 points for an average user. This is a bit off, as you can probably expect. The most active users can expect to make this amount, but for the amount of screen time that you (hopefully) get will not get you there. I personally have found that I make about 50 points a month, but that fluctuates quite a bit. 100 per month would be a good month, but it’s not unusual to make less than 30 points per month. As I already said, this depends on a few factors.
- These points should be worth exactly £1 for 10 points, but this is the best you will see. The worst could be over 100 points to a single pound, usually only occurring on the auctions. Expect around 20 points to a pound, if a little better for most items.
- The total, therefore comes to around £3 per month. If you use the internet a lot, and you’re wise with your spending, it could be around £20 per month – but that’s not gonna happen for most people.
However, I should point out here that Gener8 points are the currency you will build up, and those can only be spent in the Gener8 marketplace. This means that:
- At the moment at least, you cannot spend it elsewhere. Gener8 have plans to allow you to pay your points into PayPal, but this is not currently available (and they’ve been “working on it” for about three years, I think).
- If Gener8 goes bankrupt (not likely, but possible) then you have gained nothing from all this.
Pros and Cons?
Here’s the main pros:
- It is completely free to set up and use.
- The money that it brings in is passive – you have to do very little extra, if anything, to gain the money.
- It doesn’t change anything you already do.
- Gener8 can protect your data, especially in Privacy Mode.
- It takes very little time to set up and use.
- Money can build up, so you could eventually have quite a lot.
Here’s the main cons:
- It isn’t a huge money-maker – it is a little bit extra, but not large sums.
- Gener8 points can only be redeemed from Gener8 themselves. The reason why this is a problem is above.
That’s about it. If you want to read more about Gener8, I’ve got a few other blog posts about it here. Bye!
